Your Dog or Cat is still alive and you want to save the cells for Cloning.
It's best to preserve the cells of your dog before he/she has died. Once a dog has died its tissue will begin to deteriorate quickly. Once 5 days has passed it will no longer be possible to clone your dog. At this time there is no way to clone your dog from a strand of hair or blood or DNA. Cloning can only be done with live tissue only.
I strongly recommend saving your dogs cells while he/she is still healthy and alive. Do not wait until the last minute of you will regret it.
The first steps you have to make is to prepare by preserving the cells of your dog while she/he is still alive. You'll need to order a biopsy kit. Contact us and we will ship a biopsy kit directly to your veterinarian complete with instructions for the doctor to follow. The Biopsy kit is a Styrofoam box with ice packs and vials to store your pets tissues or biopsy samples when shipping back to us. The vet will place your dog under anesthesia and perform a small surgery to extract quality tissue and cells from your dog. The Vet will than place your pets biopsy samples in the container and ship it back via next day air to our storage facility. Once there we will culture the cells from the sample tissue to ensure that the cells are viable. The cells are then frozen and stored in a liquid nitrogen storage container. The cost to store your pet's cells are about $100-$300 per year.
Note* I recommend consulting with your vet before placing your dog under anesthesia. There is always a risk factor when placing your pet under anesthesia. Your Vet will probably suggest a blood test to make sure that your pet is a good candidate for anesthesia. If your dog is weak, sick, old, or dying then it would be too dangerous. if that is the case then I would advise you to have the Biopsy kit on standby and then have the biopsy performed immediately after death.
It's also possible that a saliva swab of the inside of the mouth may be sufficient. Please contact us to find out if this is possible for your dog or cat.
